TV is good for you

The article stated that the TV was good for women in rural India because it changed their thoughts about women's role in society and made them think about things other than what the tradition is.

I believe that TV is good for people as long as they do not watch it all the time. We live in urban cities, where it is not uncommon to have television sets, but in villages it is very rare and people barely get a chance to watch TV. We take all the knowledge learned from different shows for granted because we consider it common knowledge, but people who never watch TV don’t learn things that we learn everyday from it. In the villages, where education is also almost nothing, people have to learn just what their parents and fellow villagers teach them. They themselves have not learned anything new, then how will they teach their kids? This is why TV is good for the people in the villages. It gives them an outside perspective in life, which is something that is really needed in Indian villages, where tradition and culture form the way of life. People do not know what is new in the world, or how to change to live a better life, they just have to accept the little knowledge they get from their parents and fellow villagers.

Even in cities, where TV’s are everywhere, and it is uncommon not to have a TV, it can be good to watch TV. People think that TV only has ‘junk’. I believe that that is not true. These days TV can teach us so many things and now there are channels teaching people everything from English to history to science. There is nothing that is not there on TV. We just have to know what to watch and what not to. Even movies and TV shows are not bad, but we have to watch them in moderation, like everything else in life. Kids can learn so much from TV. 5 or 6 year old kids learn from all kids shows that make learning fun, and teach them the stuff that they learn in school, but in a fun and more exciting way. This way the kids learn more. TV also tells us what it going on in the world around us. News channels are in abundance these days. If we did not have them, then the whole world would be living in its own bubbly. Nowadays we can know what is happening halfway around the world within seconds of the situation actually occurring, this is mainly because of TV, and it power to appeal to the masses and share messages so quickly and accurately.

TV has revolutionized the world we live in and everyone has a good reason to watch and learn from it. No one in this world know everything, but TV is something that can tell us about almost anything and make us learn about stuff we would never have thought of and widen our gaze.
